INCIDENT PROTOCOL
The Basics - On Set or In the Shop
Avoid potential mishaps first - think ahead and work together
If something happens, be safe, calm and think it through.
If during regular hours reach out to management, the office, Exec Producer or GM
If after hours, or no one is available - see below
Use your judgment - assess the extent of injury or danger, communicate with your team
Having used your judgment, if the injury is minor and can be treated with first aid, do so.
If any expense for first aid supplies or transportation is required, you will be reimbursed. Keep notes and receipts.
If the injury is minor and the team member can safely return to work, consider any potential consequences of the injury before resuming the job.
If you are on location, the incident will cause issues with the progress of the job. If you are injured or with an injured party, make every effort to treat and secure the injury before returning to the job.
If the injury is more severe than first aid, use your judgment - if 911 or an ambulance is required, make the call. Your focus here is on treatment and safety; financial and other considerations are secondary.
The cost of an injury is paid by the Company if minor or through the Company's Worker's Compensation insurance if more severe. If you go to urgent care or the ER you will not be liable for the cost of the visit or co-pay. Give them the name of the company and contact info for the GM to work out the reporting and payment. If you are required to pay out-of-pocket for any portion of the treatment, keep notes and receipts and go over them with the GM at your earliest so that you can be reimbursed.
